Iron Canyon Fishing

Date: 6/24 - 6/26, 2011
Fishing @ Iron Canyon Reservoir with Wyatt and the two Matts.
Mostly bait fishing from shore. Matt Jr. and Wyatt caught a lot of fish and had a great time.
I got a lot of fish in the mornings and for an hour before sunset with surface flies. From shore in the mornings, on the sit-on-top in the evenings using an emerger.

The Yak Attack! @ camp 7.
Wyatt caught the sun coming through the canopy.
The two Matts fishing.
A friendly racer. The blood on the rock is fish blood, not from the snake.
Wyatt between fish.
Wyatt's stringer. We kept only the fish we couldn't release healthy. Had a few for breakfast.
Matt Jr. and Wyatt on the water for a paddle.
Wyatt on the way in.
Matt Jr. try's for a crawdad as Matt and Wyatt look on incredulously.

Dry Creek Waterfall

I hooked up with Kris and Ray from the Petaluma Paddlers to paddle out to the falls on Dry Creek. It is about an 11 miles round trip from the Yorty Creek launch counting paddling and hiking. The water in the creek was in perfect shape for wading and swimming in the deep pools below the waterfall.

We had a great shore lunch and then headed up to the falls. On the way back we hit every pool for a quick swim.

On the beach.
Wine and great food from Kris and Ray.
Kris hiking upstream.
Another shallow wade.
Lush and clear.
Nearing the falls area.
A gorgeous, relatively unknown area.
The falls area.
Almost there.
Kris and Ray below the falls. The falls are in the background.
Falls with deep pools.

We are heading back...
Dipping into each pool along the way.

Ray and Kris swim a nice one.
