Arcata Community Forest Hike
We got in a 4.5 mile hike early Saturday morning at the Arcata Community Forest.
We have heard a lot of good things about this community park and hiking here has been on our list for awhile. It's a trail system in the redwoods just above the Humboldt town of Arcata and Humboldt State University. It seemed like a very popular spot among the locals and after hiking there we can see why.
If you go, research on-line what trails you want to hike and then download a good map or put the route on your phone or GPS. We found many hiking and MTB trails spurring off the main trail we hiked and can see how it could be confusing for the first time visiting hiker.

Redwood Sky Walk
At the Sequoia Zoo in Eureka, CA.
The Sky Walk is rather short, but it is a beautiful sky way and walk in the redwood canopy in a great little redwood park right in the middle of the city of Eureka.
I don't think the Sky Walk and Sequoia Zoo would be the only reason to make a trip to the area. The zoo isn't very big at all. If one was in the Eureka/Arcata/Trinidad area, or just passing through, these are definitely worth having a look. Both for the enjoyment and to support this great community park. More info on the zoo and sky walk below.
