Letowski Is Hurt (old)

..."There's a big hit by Kyle Mclaren on Trevor Latowski and Letowski's hurt". OoooHHHH!!

This is a YouTube clip for back in 2010 (I think) by YouTuber thereaperjkidd.

I think one of the most brutal hip checks by the great Kyle Mclaren that I have seen...and he had A LOT! 😆

This video is probably somewhere else on this site, but it never hurts to post it again. I'm unsure of what Kyle Mclaren is up to these days. A quick web search didn't turn up anything recent. He was one of our favorite Sharks player back in that era. Thanks for all the great memories Kyle!

We Used to Do This Thaaang...

UPDATE: Planning for Dirtbag Desert Holiday#6 2024 is underway!

...in the California desert. For New Years celebrations, a small group of us would get together and spend three or four days climbing desert peaks. It was called Dirtbag Desert Holiday. We did it for five years in a row, but people started to drift away and it was hard to find other people crazy enough to freeze their asses off while they climbed peaks in the winter.

The best parts were sitting around a blazing desert campfire in the evening and reliving the days climb...

Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge

Along Interstate 5 in Northern California, a few miles South of the little town of Willows, you will find this nice wildlife refuge. The largest of five refuges that make up the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex.

There was plenty of water, and large numbers of waterfowl, but it should get better later this month and into January.

Fly Tying - Sierra Trout Jig

I'm starting a fly tying project to tie a set of flies for next trout season in the Eastern Sierra that emulates a popular and successful brand of rubber trout jigs. The rubber jigs are about 1.5 inches long, so tied like this on a size 8 euro nymphing jig hook it matches it pretty well.

Fish Arsenal Added

I've added two new fly lines to my 6 weight outfit. Couldn't pass up this Black Friday or Cyber Monday or some fooking sale. $40 for one, got the other for free. A $130 value. Website link below.

The Peach/Orange line is a floating 6 weight with a short shooting taper head for fishing balanced leech, chironomid, etc. under an indicator on stillwater.
The black/Lime line is just a standard Sink-Tip Type 5 with a shooting head for getting a little deeper on stillwater, or nymph fishing deeper runs on rivers or streams for trout and/or steelhead.

How To Make Campfire Mulled Wine

This looked good, so I'm putting it here so I can find it next time I want it. It's from a web-site called Fresh Off The Grid (link below), which has great camping/outdoor cooking recipes.

The Lost Coast Loop

Typically, on the Thanksgiving long weekend, we take off for a four day camping/hiking/caving trip to Lava Beds National Monument. We/I have been traveling quite a bit over the last couple months so decided to stay home and work on home and yard projects this Thanksgiving. That was the plan, but...after a couple days of doing boring home tasks and clean-ups we decided we needed to get out on a single day sortie and drive the Lost Coast Loop that has been on my list for several years.

The weather was perfect, the crowds were non-existent, and it was a great one day 12 1/2 hours of driving, site-seeing, beach combing, and photography. We left home at 4:00am and pulled into our driveway at 4:30pm.

Total drive Time: 12 1/2 Hours
Total Driving Miles From Home: 392.0
Total Lost Coast Loop Miles: 96.0
