Memorial Day Weekend In The Warner Range

Since I decided not to attend the Black Rock Rendezvous because of the predicted bad weather, I retooled the gear and headed to the Warner Mountains in Northeastern California for a fun weekend exploring with Andrew H.

We still got low temps, rain, hail, and wind, but we were more protected in the Blue Lake basin and the conditions were actually very enjoyable. We camped at Blue Lake Campground and set up a tent with plenty of room inside to have a small kitchen and keep most of the other camp gear out of the weather.

The Gazelle T4 Plus tent provided plenty of room for two and kitchen/gear storage inside.

Happy Birthday Liz!

Prelude to Black Rock Rendezvous 2022

***UPDATE***: Unfavorable weather conditions forecasted for the Black Rock Desert area during this period forced me to cancel this trip. :(

I've been cleaning, sorting, and repacking gear for the 2022 Black Rock Rendezvous. We are signed up with Friends of the Nevada Wilderness and are heading over Friday May 27th.

Along with the standard camping gear, the truck needed some maintenance/cleaning, and I am signed up for a 18 mile desert bike ride on Sunday with The Friends of the Black Rock/High Rock. So, I needed a few upgrades and tweaking done on my mountain bike. Everything is coming together and I will finish up with loading and shopping tomorrow, May 26th.

Updates on the Rendezvous trip coming next week when we return.

Eric's PCT Send Off

Our friend Eric started his North section PCT hike Sunday at the Highway 44 trailhead in Hat Creek Valley north of Lassen National Park. Several of use joined him as we climbed up to the Hat Creek Rim along the PCT. We took in the view, then wished Eric luck and he was on his way solo.

The weather was perfect and the group ended up hiking 6.97 miles total.
