Gold Butte National Monument
March 19, 2025 - We did an overnight-er out to Gold Butte in Southern Nevada just to have a look around. It's a long drive out there so next time we will have a 3-4 trip planned to better explore the area. It's beautiful out there and very remote. Dispersed camping allowed.

Massacre Ranch Cabin
Located in Northwestern Nevada at the upper end of the Black Rock/High Rock Desert is the Massacre Ranch camping cabin...open to the public.
It sits about 4 miles off of the main road A8 coming from Ceaderville and provides cabin or dispersed camping.

Upper High Rock Canyon Trail Hike
From Steven's Camp, we did a 1. 5 mile hike up Upper High Rock Canyon to the meadow and corral. Headed left up the bowl to a stand of Quaking Apens, then on up to the high plateau above the canyon. We then walked south along the rim, then down the south slope, across the creek, and back to camp.
With all the hiking around the hike totaled a little over 4 miles total.

Desert Expressions
We swung into the International Car Forest of the Last Church in Goldfield, Nevada. It's been on our list for awhile. Some might refer to it as a junk yard, but to each their own.
We were on our way to the Bristlecone Pine Forest on White Mountain (in California), so didn't have time to do more exploring in Goldfield proper, but plan to get back there in the Fall and walk through/photograph all the old buildings and junk exhibits in cooler temps.
