* Cocktail Paddle II - In Search of

About a month ago, while on a hike at lake Sonoma, Marcie spotted this nice Osprey nest in a snag along the shoreline. We hiked back to the sight a few weeks later to see if we could get a view of the young, but discovered the nest was gone and it looked like the snag had broken off. We decided we would paddle around to this area next time we got a chance to search for the fallen nest.

Our weekly Cocktail Paddle allowed us to get over there this week, so off we went. Unfortunately, what we feared was true and we found the shattered nest busted up on a tree stump at waters edge, a fall of about a hundred feet. We didn't find any carcasses, so maybe the young survived, or most likely, the were consumed by predators.

We enjoyed our paddle never the less. There wasn't anything we could do and sometimes that how mother nature works.

The nest back at the beginning of May.

We loaded up and ripped out to the main launch at the Lake Sonoma.

Marcie enjoys a cold one.

The fallen nest.

Again.

The snag from where it fell.

Another view of the shattered nest.

The original perch.

...and Marcie.
