* January Sonoma Coast

A great morning hiking on the Sonoma Coast at Goat Rock. Starting just before sunrise, we hiked the Kortum Trail starting from the Goat Rock Road, and went South for about 2 1/2 miles. We stooped between Shell Beach and Wright's Beach for a breakfast of scrambled eggs and a Mate', and then hiked back. Before getting to the car we took a quick climb up Peaked Hill for a view North past Jenner.

I feel January is the best month to hike the Sonoma and Marin coasts. Between storms, the weather is sunny and very pleasant, and although it is always crowed there, January is a lot less crowed than the summer months.

Distance: 5.11 miles     Time: 03:27:19 with breakfast
