* Hart Mountain Hike

DeGarmo Canyon, Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge, Oregon
About 4.5 miles round trip.

The trail gets hard to follow about two miles in. We scrambled around trying to find it so we could get to the plateau and see East into the refuge, but we didn't want to be up in there past 11:00am to avoid the heat. If we ever go back I will plot a route on GPS and have a better map.

Great short hike with canyon scrambling in the beautiful Hart Mountain. One nice waterfall, no Big Horn Sheep sighted, no rattlesnake encounters.

* Kayaking Oregon's High Desert Wetlands

July 5-7. Camped along the shore for two days and two nights on our way back from Steens mountain. The water level was lower this year, so most of the ponds, and sloughs connecting the ponds, were unaccessible or dry. We still got in a great paddle one day.
