Down distant paths for unmapped miles.

Black Diamond Presents: Dawn Patrol—Why We Rise

"Earlier mornings. Not for bravados sake, but to get you out there much further"...

"While I wouldn't go as far as saying it's a way of life or some divine philosophical way to approach the world, there is something to be said for having a little extra daylight to burn."

Lake Sonoma South Lake Trail Hike

From the Old Skaggs Spring entrance, I hiked south along the trail for 5 miles...at which point I turned around and hiked back.

To though hike this trail (about 10 miles) you need to set up a shuttle. I was out by myself, so dod an out-and-back.

Total miles: 10.1

More to come as I get them processed.

Lake Sonoma Trout Action

The shad have moved to the surface and are accessible from shore.

When I arrived, fish were feeding/rolling all over. Two hours of casting shad fly patterns produced nothing, so I switched to a weighted steelhead spinner and caught this beauty after a few casts. 16-18 inches and released alive.

Another hour of casting flies and lures but didn't get another strike, even though the fish were still there.

Fun outing, great weather, no else around. Might just go back next Monday.

Fall Yaking At The Ahj

Our annual Fall pilgrimage to Northeast California for leaf peeping, kayaking, and boat-in camping at Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park. With Jeff, Karen, Scott & Jen, David, Silo & Milo.

We had a near full moon for two nights, so got in a moonlight paddle and an evening sitting at waterside enjoying fun conversation and Lady Luna.
