Hat Creek Odds & Sods

Several days fishing and exploring in the Hat Creek area of Northern California.

Fish Camp at Cassel Campground

California Margaritas

Crystal Lake

Baum Lake

Impass trying to reach Thousand Lakes Wilderness.

We might have been able to clear this dead-fall, but there was deep snow 200 feet beyond.

Dry Creek Waterfall Paddle

Our annual paddle out to the Dry Creek Waterfall at Lake Sonoma.

Typically we do this in April before the creek warms and fills with algae. With the late Spring rain storms we had, the lake is plum full and the creek water was running COLD!

10+ miles round trip and this year we were able to paddle within about 200 feet of the falls, so there was not much creek hiking.

Tomales Point Hike

At Point Reyes National Seashore.

We hiked the Tomales Point Trail out to the point. Lots of wild flowers and wild life. It was also quite windy out towards the point, but that kept it cool.

About 10 miles total round trip.
