* Gualala River Paddling

We have been wanting to paddle the Gualala River for awhile now, but seem to always have somewhere else we want to go more. Our outdoor calendar is filling fast for spring/summer 2013, so we checked the tide book (not optimal, but it would work), grabbed our bags, packed our rags, and headed back to the Mendocino Coast.

7 mile round trip paddle.

Put-in just north of the Gualala Rive Bridge.
A couple hundred feet portage down to the water.
Heading to the mouth.
Warming in the morning, a juvenile Bald Eagle gets bothered by a Raven.
Nearing the mouth of the Gulala River.

Marcie enjoying a small waterfall and wildflowers on the bank in the morning fog.

Gualala River Splattski.

At the mouth of the Gualala River.

Marcie looking for more Eagles.
Heading upriver under the Gualala River Bridge on State Highway 1.

Stopped for a snack.

Upstream and paddling against the current.
Headed back down.
