We wanted to escape the high heat and wildfire smoke in the wine country, so we headed to Mount Shasta over the Labor Day weekend to hike a few projects that were on our lists.
Before we left, the web cams were showing blue skies throughout the region, but when we got up there, Northeastern California was also suffering from the effects of the many wildfires burning in California and Oregon.
We got up to the Brewer Creek Trailhead on the Northeast side of Mt. Shasta that is at about 7,300 feet elevation, where we spent the first night and hiked to timberline on Saturday.
About 5 miles round trip.
