The High Desert Museum
A few pictures from The High Desert Museum along Highway 97 a few miles south of Bend, Oregon.
This is a pretty nice museum that features many indoor exhibits pertaining to wildlife, history, and attractions of Oregon's High Desert. There are a few outdoor wildlife enclosures for eagles, owls, raptors, and river otters.
We highly recommend!

Crater Lake Scenic Rim Drive
We were passing up through Central Oregon with no time restraints, so took a detour to drive the Crater Lake Scenic Rim Drive. It was mid-day with bright sun and no cloud cover so things were washed out, so I only took a few pictures.
Next time we go back I would like to hike the trail along the Northwest Rim. Maybe on a peak climbing trip rest day in the coming years.

Klamath River Steelhead Fly
A long time ago, while fly fishing the Klamath River in Northern California, an old timer fisherman gave me a raggedy tied steelhead fly he called the "Chappie". I didn't know anything about it at the time, and don't even remember if I fished it, but I think I still have it kicking around with a bunch of old steelhead flies.
This afternoon I was tying up a small selection of flies for (hopefully) a trip up there in the coming weeks. I thought about the old fisherman and the Chappie so quickly wrapped one up with a slight variation.
My version of "Outdoor" Franklin's Chappie, size 6.

Not So Homeless Homeless
I had a great time recently living out of my truck for about a week in the Eastern Sierra (California). Climbing, hiking, fishing. The best part was no time restraints or set schedule. I just did what I wanted when I wanted...enjoying early morning hikes/climbs, rain showers, camping in the wild, and meals cooked out of the back of the truck.
Next trip, Central Oregon. Exploring, hiking, and the Fall Foliage.
